Vuelta 18 Challenge…

38th out of 537…

Admittedly, i had to re-ride a few routes a few times to get 38th place. Worked hard for this one as this was my last on Rouvy for a while, as this was the final challenge needed to complete my Rouvy Career to Legend. So now i’m off back to Zwift for a while as i’m currently limiting my riding to focus more on my running for a change and Zwift is good for that – see how that goes.

Anyways, Rouvy’s been great, got a lot fitter along the journey with them but now i need some new targets.

Can you get drunk on boozy food?

So please think about the alcohol you are maybe eating, as well as drinking, if you intend to be driving.

Better still, just quit alcohol altogether and save yourself the worry – no more hangovers and much improved health, fitness, longevity and wellbeing.

Rouvy – 7 Revueltas (v2017)…

My latest attempt at Rouvy’s ‘7 Revueltas (v2017)’ route…

A nice little mountain on Rouvy that has to be ridden for the latest ‘Vuelta 18’ challenge.

And to get in the top 23% is something i’m well pleased with, and also averaging 192 watts, which is my best hour ride yet. Sweet!

This is my latest attempt at this route (knocking 1:45 of my previous time) as i’m attempting to finish as high as possible on this challenge within the limits that my training plan allows me to ride. I’m now at 6th out of 17 who have so far completed the whole challenge – so not too bad. But there’s more to come, so it’ll be interesting to see where i finally end up.

Anyways, it’s a nice big hill to climb if anyone’s got an hour to spare, why not have a go yourself?

40km TT (Richmond World’s)…

My fastest 40km on Zwift’s ‘Richmond World’s’ course from the start banner…

Done on the Tron bike. Only just inside the top 57%, ouch, but i’m ok with that for now as i was pacing for a 3 hour ride and i’m also taking it easy on the bike at the moment while concentrating on my running.

I forgot to make a note of the elevation gain – will remember next time.

Done on the Tron bike. Inside the top 47%, which i’m happy with for now as i’m taking it easy on the bike at the moment while concentrating on my running.

Done on the Tron bike. Inside the top 48%. It’ll do for now on such a flat course that has so much racing on it.

It’s 132 meters of elevation gain.

My Fastest Ever 40km…

Just managed my fastest ever 40km which i set on Zwift’s ‘Volcano Flat Reverse’ route…

In the top 42% on the leader board, which i don’t think is too bad for now on such a flat course.

Done on Tron bike with a fair bit of draughting going on with the Tour de Zwift event. Getting closer to that hour though.

23rd Street Climb…

My best effort up Zwift’s ’23rd Street’ climb…

Done on the Emonda with Bontragers while i was supposed to be doing a recovery ride because my legs still haven’t recovered from the Fondo, but managed to be just inside the top 34%, which i’m ok with for now. I’ll be back on some lighter wheels sometime when i don’t have knackered legs.

For more of my climbing, there’s the ‘Zwift Climbs’ section of my website which i plan to be adding all the Zwift climbs to over the coming weeks – it’s all good fun. 😀

56 Mile TT (Road to Ruins)…

My fastest 56 miles on Zwift’s ‘Road to Ruins’ course…

Done on the Cervelo S5 with 808’s which turned out to be 0:2:27 per lap slower than my usual Tron bike. Added to the Cervelo woes i sacked out for the last 90 minutes to save myself for my charity ride on Saturday (it’s a great excuse so…. 😀 ) which left me just outside the top 56% – which is pretty poor but not too bad considering.

I checked on the leader board and if i just did each of the 3 laps at the Tron bike speed i would be in the top 37%. So i’ll definitely be looking forward to revisiting this course in the future and i won’t be riding the Cervelo any more.

Quite an enjoyable course with 2732 feet of elevation gain.
